She's the DJ, not the Wrapper

Because some idiot scheduled J and I in a 12:30pm meeting, we were forced into an hourly worker's lunch today. And because J can't eat at TDM (one of the best, fastest lunches in town) without becoming violently ill, we hit up the Pita Pit. Today the Pit was on backward. The Frau was not at the register - - she was rolling pitas. And the guy who is usually rolling pitas - - was at the register. It had the same kind of feeling as putting your underwear on inside out by mistake (or on purpose - I'm not going to judge you). The roller - with his one job - couldn't call out the orders properly - chickenCeSAR! was more like CHICKEN-cesar. And the Frau cannot (and should not) roll a decent pita to save her life. All the "honey" and "sweetie" in the world only creates an awkward diversion as she drowns your hummus pita in Dijon mustard, it doesn't make it any sweeter to eat. And while the she's busy distracting you with pet names, she's murderi...

the saddest lunch... ever

DeDe, our favorite server has been terminated from Blue C. In protest, T2 is boycotting Blue C, and asks that you join us. You can also write an email in support of DeDe and send it to: feedback@bluecsushi.com . Here is what we sent to Blue C: Over the past year, my colleagues and I have frequented the Tukwila Blue C Sushi once, sometimes twice a week. We also run a blog about our lunchtime adventures in Tukwila and have written many times about Blue C - maybe even to the exhaustion of our readers ( http://tummytukwila.blogspot.com/ ). One draw was definitely the good food, but one of the best things about the Tukwila location was DeDe... Today we were shocked to learn that DeDe had been terminated last week by a new (possibly clueless) manager. I am very unhappy to learn this, especially since DeDe consistently gave me the best restaurant service I'd ever experienced - she was fun, energetic, knew our names and our orders by heart, and always had a smile on her face, even when she...

Hail to the C!

Happy Inauguration! J and I celebrated change by doing the usual - eating at Blue C for lunch. Lunch was pretty quiet - I was completely distracted by Blue C's flat screen TV showing the live feed of the Presidential Motorcade. J was already past the inaugural fun, and kept trying to engage me in conversation, but I was only able to listen with one ear (sorry, J). Yesterday was truly amazing. I can't wait to see what happens next. Food: 5/5 Atmosphere: 5/5 (score extra points for changing the channel from the Cartoon Network to ABC) History making: 5/5

The Best In Tukwila

Today's blog is dedicated to Dede - the best darned waitress this side of the Mississippi. Dede schleps sushi accoutrements to all the hungry people of Tukwila, Monday - Friday at Blue C Sushi in Tukwila. A note to others: no one better mess with her patrons - or there will be hell to pay! While waiting to check out, another waiter attempted to "steal" Dede's table - B and I are wishing him well as he recuperates in intensive care, Haborview. Other than receiving spectacular service, we also received: a mall stalking, an offer to purchase illegal substances at the generic cell phone store, a couple of false signals from the gaydar signal, and an unwelcome, over-zealous sales woman's attention at the Kitchen Store. Food: 5/5 Entertainment: 5/5 Broken gaydar equipment: 0/5

You Can Put Fancy Tape on a Staircase...

...but you're still in Tukwila. Recently, the Compound replaced the carpet on the back-entrance staircase with this new, rubber-textured flooring. To make us all feel we're in the grand halls of the state capitol, they applied marble-esque tape along the edge (as seen here in this photo). At first, we all thought they had made a mistake and forgot to glue something down, but then we realized - as always, it was just the poor taste of the Compound's property management company. As weird as it looks, it won't be long before it's covered in filth and blends in with its surroundings. Speaking of blending... J and I went to Blue C today and everyone in the place looked like everyone else. I surmised that Blue C attracts a certain (high) class of people, J agreed. As usual - DeShawnda served us, and the food was excellent. Meanwhile, B is downtown hanging out with the Navy. I'm sure his blog will be more interesting than mine. The Belt

"Have You Done the Belt? It's Dangerous!" We actually heard someone say that as they walked by our booth at Blue C today (sorry Unicorn Pony Dreamcatcher , Sizzler will have to wait for another day). They were referring to the conveyor belt style delivery of sushi that makes Blue C so great. And yes, it is dangerous: before your done with your first plate of self-served sushi, you're already reaching for the next. Before you know it - you've eaten 9 plates.... ahh , delicious danger! In other news, J has started carrying his camera case as a murse . A while back, B and J gave me puh - lenty of grief over the Italian leather satchel that I had started carrying around after a trip to Florence a couple of years back - "Hey look everyone, R's carrying a purse!" Whatev . At least J won't be able to make fun of me anymore... I'm bringing back the Euro-bag!

Guess Where?

Blue C Sushi - it's just too dang hard to resist, and today - it was the best ever! Every dish was fresh and perfectly seasoned, DeShawnda was our server, and B was falling in love all over the place . Food: 5/5 Goodtimes: 5/5

You Got Served

Ahhh ... Blue C. This time our waiter was DeShawnda , she had a straight-up attitude and natural sass unlike any other waiter in the south-end, but that's why we liked her. She was straightforward and told it like it is. It's so refreshing to get the truth every now and then (take note Bubble Tea Lying Girl). On to the food - mmmm ... seared tuna! The picture really can't do it justice, you need to taste it to believe it. And today I felt hungrier than ever, but refrained from eating more than 6 plates - sushi at Blue C is deeelish for sure, but it's also really expensive. This really can't become a habit or I will need a part-time job. J finally shared a secret that he has been keeping from B and I today - katsu potatoes are super tasty. I had it in my mind that they probably tasted something like homefries you'd order with your breakfast at Charlies on Broadway, but instead they taste similar to a beniet (French pastry) - slightly sweet, with a crispy oute...

Southcenter Mall Finally Reopens

It's official - today, Westfield Shopping Center is celebrating their grand re-opening. To the hordes of crowds blocking up the parking lot, food court, and the H&M store, this must be the hottest thing that's hit this area since the Rainforest Cafe opening back in 1999. It was so exciting, in fact that someone had a heart-attack in the middle of H&M. So what in name of love would cause the three of us to trudge through a sea of South- enders during such a grand event? Blue C Sushi . Its got a funky, Tokyo-inspired interior, and ridiculously deeelish sushi. It used to be, if you wanted sushi, your choices were limited to Sushi(ghetto)land and Myabi . Both are sub-par, and both might give you E. coli with their warm, grade B tuna. And with food options getting really old out here, the idea of a favorite downtown restaurant opening near our offices was... well let's just say that none of us scheduled meetings close to, or after our lunchtime. My favorite dish a...
